Bio Sketch

Jo McInerney is an Australian writer living in country Victoria with her husband and a calico cat. She has been writing haiku and tanka since 2007, having been introduced to the forms by a friend. She previously wrote mainly free verse.

  1. In addition to the effective use of a seasonal reference that enhances the tone and mood of the poem, the unexpected yet emotionally powerful juxtaposition (of the broken sky, the ground, and the burial) and stunning imagery lift the poem up a notch.
