One Man's Maple Moon: Truth Tanka by Larry Kimmel

English Original

this time, she tells me,
she’s telling the truth --
between us
I watch the struggles of a wasp
drowning in peach juice

The Tanka Journal, 26, 2005

Larry Kimmel

  1. The upper verse establishes the thematic context while the lower verse employs the projection technique to attribute a drowning wasp the speaker's own unconscious response to his loved one's proclamation of the truth.
