  1. Julie Warther from the USA has written this EC that is an excellent play on words. Starting with a wide setting, then moving into its subject of a “willow” in the “storm”, but it isn't the storm that “lashes out” this time. Here is the way to make your haiku stand out from other haiku, presenting things in a different light to your readers. Had Julie said new moon—/the storm lashes out/at a willow, the end-result effect would certainly not be the same. Thanks to Julie and the other haiku poets represented on this page whose work was selected for an Editor's Choice from over eleven hundred haiku submitted.
